Wrap up

Snoods, Russian hats, woollen socks and mittens...anything would do.

There's no particular rule to winters' wrapping up because when it is cold it is flipping cold...and usually I just stop carrying and dun my favourite sheepskin and turn into a happy-bubbly little gnome. However there is a way of how to give your bulky silhouette a less chubby and more appealing look -  by breaking it into two main parts: leading and accompanying.

For example make your snood (if it is as voluminous as mine) - a leading accent. Remember that the coat would need to be monochrome, tight fit or at least straight (if you want your snood to "pop"). And a hat will be an accompaniment hence -a small beanie hat or a beret would be perfect. This way wearing a bulky scarf or snood will give harmonic dynamics to the silhouette and will salvage your look from clumsiness...also will disguise all the festive eating evidence.

My Russian hat is rather small and is not fury on the outer side, so it goes with my  rule number one. You can deem it a petite headgear :)

If, however, you find yourself crying to wear a massive piece of headpiece, the accent then would fall onto your very top of the body.

The best would be to refrain from knitted shoulder and neck accessories. If needing a scarf use a thin scarf from wool or silk, that you could line against your neck and chest not creating too many creases. I use a green version of a short woollen scarf I brought from Edinburgh. But the ideal would be a polo neck jumper or jersey.

Jibba jabba

Just don't start with..."Yeah, typical Baranovska" ...
I've been looking at a different type of spiky and dangly ear pieces since the last year when they just began to appear on American websites at the price of 70 bucks each; which was a rip off for somebody like me- collecting chests of bling-bling treasures and wearing nothing but a couple of little pearl ear studds on a daily basis.
Hence I am so delighted I got this for some 6 pounds from H&M...
The problem is that it is designed for the left ear but I definitely get extremely disconcerted once some extra accessories go on the left side of my body. You know...if you need to make a bow, a knot or a side-pony-tail most of the people would prefer one or the other side of their body. So I am one of that cast who wears everything on the right side.

Ear cuff

When the ear cuff is worn on its correct side there are some tacky crystals which make the cuff look cheep and preposterous beyond the exuberance of the idea already...just reduces it to a completely daft look, so  definitely better with the backside.

The same jacket-how to play it up

Another way of wearing the jacket I showed here a couple of days ago. And as I just said it was asking for some yellows, so I dunned my yellow- akaVersace dress, got some cheap bling-blings from Primark and off you go.

A cat in the post, Meow.

accessories, jewellery, cat, ring, fashion, Silverbymail
A long day at work and the super-grey-rainy day (the words fail me to describe the repellence I feel towards the British weather)...and I suddenly a little puss arrives in my post in a form of a lil jewellery present from a dearest friend. How thoughtful and touchingly cute. Thanks a lot, meow!

The kind of cat-themed accessories started to circulate on the web only a couple of weeks ago, and just last weekend I spotted a misteriously-looking cat at one of the Topshop's store:
I find the design somewhat captivating and empowering.

ALternative Fashion Week, continuation...

And another batch of photos from Alternative Fashion Week at Spitalfields Traders Market.
Ostensibly innovative designers have exhibited their works for the general public but whether they really were that innovative and original in their work is for you to decide.

Being too busy locating my viewfinder I have completely missed out on the names of designers. Feeling guilty of professional negligence and desperately seeking for your approval at least for taking the photos.

The so-called sustainable collection. The garments compiled of recycled mens suits, shirts and cravats. C'mon, just strip them off completely, first their love, then their money, now their clothes...
The skirt is the favourite. When in motion, the heavy fabrics gives it a fabulous fluidy look.

A definite approve from Baranovska. The sweet sherbet, been left outside and got washed out by  the rain. The cut is rather simple and too compromising with the customer, but looking very pretty.
Worth of going onto TopShop shelves. xx

Hello Malcolm X, I thing you forgot to change for the showcase.

Something every girl's done when learning how to sew. Been there, done that, next please.

Loved the idea, but there's something unfinished about it. If it is a vest with fringe it needs to look like one ...And likewise if it is an accessory. There's a good rhythm and dynamics in these garments (middle picture) but no substance and presentation is "flaggy".
A good judgement is to sometimes imagine yourself walking into a corner shop and thinking whether shop assistant's would exclaim "Aaah a goddess" ...or   "Ooooh, a pot of noodles"...so there you go.

Oh, you need to wear the clothes too, if you decide to experiment with the shop.

When I saw the first model I thought of our poor pensioners in Eastern Europe, having their little money slashed from the scheme and now earning their bread by crocheting and knitting. Is it an appeal to revive some oldschool non-fashionable accessorizing? Not convinced.
Pretty hats though. You get lots of them in Latvia on the central market.

Couldn't get my eyes of them, couldn't believe what I was seeing. A whole vanguard of International  call girls.
Latvia, Russia (definitely under-aged), Spain

Afrika, Ukraine, ....whatever...some country with blue parrots.......
How much?

Tribal variations exhibited beautiful batik and skilfully mastered draperies. Missing a bit on innovation.

Im sure I saw them in my children's bible. There were definitely some sheep and zebras grazing around.

A surprising vintage boon

It took me more than three years of strenuously questing for a meticulously abraded leather backpack.
I discovered the thing cosily resting in deem lights of a local vintage shop's window.

Less than in 12 hours the suede backpack was repossessed, not without my involvement of course...

The awesomest backpack

Prada

This is an official declaration of awe to an awesome suede backpack from Prada, as seen on Lawren Howell- the Fashion Editor and Stylist of US Vogue.

The simplest, slickiest and the most immaculate article of practical accessory.
Not only it would always look grand, regardless of the weather condition, particular occasion or the actual state of yours, but, most probably, it would also serve you for ever as the most amiable and indispensable article of your everyday outfit.
Simple and down-to-earth items alike always make a very consonant match with a human and its' - sometimes not as glamorous and agreeable as desired- nature. Especially if you are of a tom-boy style cast: messy hair, low-key make-up, simple jeans and a T; a rucksack would do the trick and effortlessly glamour it up. And that's exactly what we are after!

I bet Abel and Cain used to carry something alike when going on their shepherding quests.
The rucksack is by all means is created just for me.
I have a journal to put in and shoes to carry it around.
